My group was hit pretty hard, a lot of folks got cut and now that there are fewer of us our manager is making us work our asses of to cover the workload . Is that the case at other groups? Do more with less they say, but I don’t see that working at this pace is possible for a longer amount of time.

I see more and more like employees quitting due to the poor work conditions. I know my workload had doubled and it ain’t getting done and were cutting corners
If you work more and more hours, then they’ll look and see the work is getting done, so why hire more people? You’re not getting paid two salaries, so why do the work of two employees? I’m sorry. I meant to say two numbers. Employee is a stretch at this point.
give um the rules till they can 't take it any more!
Keep it safe everyone. If you're too tired to go to work...simply stay home. Not worth it to get hurt or hurt someone else. Stay home. Once the accident/incident happens...the excuse, I was exhausted, won't cut it. Do yourself a favor, stay home and get that needed rest.
Nope. They've always tried to squeeze us for 12 hours. At least up gets fined by the fra for performing service after 12 hours.
you are paid for 1 scoop don't ever give those ungrateful a_ _ holes 2 scoops! they are not good people.
Yeah, i work the same as always. No big deal. Why everyone trippin, if your that scared because the managers now are using this psr as a scare tactic, just get a different job. If not follow the rules, do nothing more or nothing less than your supposed to and work safe. They way i see it, managers, trainmen, carmen, diesel shop, were all in the same boat and could all be laid off, maybe a culture change is in order, stop backstabbing and start working together.
8 hours pay for 8 hrs work.... nothing more nothing less....I take 2 rest days and then the cycle repeats..... the simple reality is, you can't "do more with less".... Good luck trying
Yes it's getting to be a very big problem. Eat sleep breath UP or die then repeat... Arbeit Macht Frei!
Not to trivialize your situation, but depending on which department you find yourself in, it has been that way for a while even before the layoffs. Somebody quits or retires and they don’t fill the position. You end up working the whole month when people go on vacation. In reality you don’t get an actual vacation. It’s basically hey buddy would you mind working all these days in a row when I’m going on a trip and I’ll return the favor for you when you go somewhere. It’s not the same as you getting 3 weeks PAID vacation and thereby working 49 out of 52 weeks. No, there is no paid time off. And to answer your question no it’s not sustainable which is why so many people quit Union Pacific and move on to better jobs with actual benefits. Good luck.
Yes, as a field manager we are most definitely overworked.
Not at all. I work by their rules now. No short cuts.
