Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

I have 6 yrs. at the railroad is that good enough? That's alot of years worked. Im 26yrs. old now.

If you have a marketable skill then I’d start looking elsewhere. Even if you don’t get cut with this round, you can expect cuts EVERY year or two from now on. So just about the time you start in on that 30 year mortgage and have a couple of toddlers, the railroad lowers the boom.

If you’ve read this board you’ve seen that people with 5, 10, 20, 30 years are being cut. If praying to keep your job daily over the next 30 years sounds like a life plan for you, stay right where you are.

You'll soon find out that there are no amount of years worked that are good enough. You'll always be at ups mercy. Even more so if you go management.
