Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Real Info: Severance Pay

Creating a new thread for visibility. I know someone high up in management and kept pestering them. Their lips were sealed, but he/she did give me a hint that benefits doc was recently updated. I'm not going to paste anything, or upload anything in case I break policy. Go to Socrates, then on top Personal -> Total Rewards -> 2019 GM Benefits

Section 6: "Separated in a Reduction In Force"

Enjoy, and hope you can read legalese.

I wish f*cking management would just tell everyone to read the EoB to ease rumors and stress.

Oh, and he/she also told me Randy Mott & Mary Barra are relocating to Atlanta and closing all the other innovation centers. Screw you ATL haters!

  1. Mary is building with her fat cash. 2. You will not get team GM if cut before pay out, by the way.. they moved pay out to April this year instead of February. 3. Benefits doc break down, you will get 1 month of severance for each year up to 6 months. At 50% of your monthly salary. They will take out your insurance, taxes etc. You will be paid monthly.. it's not a lump sum. If you borrowed against your SSP or already took your vacation days for 2019, they will charge you for it on the way out the door. Oh, and you have to sign an agreement or you get nothing.

Just to add to the confusion, the first time it says you are not entitled to the TeamGM payout it says if you are let go before the pay out date, you dont get it.

The second time it says you are not entitled to the TeamGM payout it says, if you are let go before the payout date you are not entitled to the payout for the payout period in which you were cut.

So the first makes it sound like we wont get 2018's payout if we are cut before the payout date, the second makes it sound like we wont get 2019's payout for work done in January if we are cut before the 2018 payout date.

Yes the benefits doc is unclear. It says 1 month benefit for each year of service up to 6. But it says contradictory things. Total of your semi-monthly pay = 1 month of you pay at layoff but after that says your benefit is 50% of your monthly pay at layoff. Clear as mud.

I'd agree we won't get it. We are entitled to it though. We earned it in 2018.

Integrity. Ha!

Everyone please take note as to what it says about the TeamGM Performance Payout. If you are released before the payout date, you don't get it, and are not entitled to it.
