Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Is this real life?

I've read through the opinions, the trolling, the cheer leading, the vitriol, etc and came to the conclusion that no matter what side of the fence you're on as an employee or outsider - this whole ordeal feels surreal. As long as Sears is allowed to live on under current leadership there will be no winners coming out of this. And from what I've read online, there's apparently no plan to change how the company is run so to expect a different outcome is insane.

I'm leaving the company at the end of the month because of the constant overwhelming toxicity exhibited by senior leadership towards field management. After being asked time and time again by our corrupt leadership to lie to employees or blame them for the current state of affairs, I knew it was time to leave.

And now that ESL has bought the company... again... I can only ask - is this for real? Who on earth can possibly say with any confidence that those who drove this company into the ground are going to fix it? And just like the toxicity exhibited by leadership since ESL first took over, I see plenty of comments on here putting it all on the shoulders of employees so leadership is shielded from accountability - just like leadership did pre-bankruptcy.

This whole thing feels like some lame TV movie where some arrogant loser is caught in his own lies and infidelity but spends a ridiculous amount of time and money trying to convince his family that it's their fault, while saying "I still love you and I promise things will be different this time". Here we have the self-proclaimed savior of Sears trying to save it - again. And employees think he still loves them and things will be different this time. Good luck with that.

Time to end the marriage folks. Find an employer that values you and your skillset. An employer with integrity and isn't forcing you to compromise your integrity and fidelity for blind loyalty. Otherwise don't blame Eddie or ESL or the courts or your leaders when you're faced with losing your jobs in a few months when you realize the same arrogant loser didn't make good on his promise - again.

88 Sears? Should be 86.

Ethics hotline?! LOL!! Yeah right. Everyone knows that only puts a target on the reporting associates back. HR integrity is a HUGE part of the problem with Sears. Retaliation is part of the toxic culture at Sears. Eddie taught his leaders well. Anyone reporting anything that taints the kool-aid is told they need to get on board with the message or else.

Ethics hotline and 88 Sears is worthless.

Associates would call 88 Sears about an issue in the store and 88 Sears would pass the problem back to the Store manager and the problem would never get resolved.

Just curious, did you call the ethics hotline and report your superiors or just let is slide?
