Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Will there be any severance pay?

Or just bye bye? What is the usual process? This is highly unusual - firing a huge chunk of employees when they also bump up earning numbers.

It says the benefits you get for each of those months you mentioned are 50% of your monthly benefits.

But it also says that semi-monthly benefits will be 100% of your benefits as of the time you are severed.

But I'm not sure what the hell a semi-monthly benefit is...

Read the benefits. 1 month for every year...up to 6 months. And you must pass your anniversary. So if you are let go 1/31 and your anniversary is 2/1, you don't get credit for the last 364 days. Now whether your pay is 50% or full, that is not clear.

I was told there would be, but the details of it are up in the air it sounded like. We will know once we know who's let go. But until then It's safe too assume it will be what is standard, which I think is 50% of a month of pay, for every year you have worked at GM. So it you have worked 2 years, 1 full month of pay. I'm not positive if that's right though. Also don't know if for example 2 years will pay more than 2.5 years, or if its just round down to the nearest full year.
