Anyone know how long the average stay at one store is for a SM? Got one who has been at the same store for 10 years. Has made it clear he wants to be a DM. However, he has been passed over numerous times. And will have competition for the first time this spring when a Menards opens in the same city.

Your SM was fired? Wonder what happened? Hopefully your store can bounce back and have good morale again. Managers need to support their team, good people are hard to find. Pride of store should be a goal for everyone.

Sadly I don't see this company getting back to the way it was 10 years ago or so. Good luck to everyone who sticks with it.

The only thing that turns over faster than the SM at our store are the ASM’s. They get canned every year. Then we have what we call the “90 Day Wonders”. They hire in these kids & promote them after 3 months. Then when they become ASM’s they get canned.

It’s the cycle of failure. And Ellison isn’t the cure!

Chester NY , store 2685. We just lost our store manger after a mere 8 months and we all knew it was coming from day 1. He was terrible! Where do they find these people. It doesnt surprise us though because its the same store that had the worst Human Resources rep ever, M. Spoto. Who is now corporate HR which also is a joke. Its always about "him", and never the issue. We also have a management staff so corrupt and unethical that we all feel as if we are completely screwed. They weed out what they call "trouble makers" (in reality very good workers who have at one time simply questioned their unethical actions) and find ways to make them leave or fire them outright. We have been left with the worst employees, and Spoto used to hire newbies by his own biases, and every time they were complete failures. Now hes in charge at the corporate level pulling strings for our entire market behind the scenes. He's Oz, behind the curtain and has pulled a scam to corporate in believing he is competent. Hes the most unethical H,R, rep Ive ever met. He was even arrested for domestic abuse yet calls us into his office to tell us how to act!!?? Really?

Anyway, we had a great store manager in B. Beane last year and his thanks for winning best store in customer focus was being shipped off to Norwalk CT where he was soon after FIRED! Then they brought this guy Gary in who last 8 months. We went from #1, to completely done. This store s---s!

They fired all experienced people and brought in millennials who are on their phones all day, and a management staff that judges people biasedly while they do f*** all! ASM Tom is a ghost. Sits upstairs, never answers phone, and never has any answers. ASM Jasmine is an emotional wreck, flipping outn once every couple weeks on someone for no good reason. Etc, etc etc.

I’ve been with Lowe’s since 2007. Shortest SM tenure was 15 months, longest has been 5 years three months. It has been my experience that they either quit or get fired. Most it seems are one major screw up away from the door.

My first was fired for not having the generator fueled, power went out during a snow storm and store couldn’t open for 3 days.
