Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Night crew

Have any clubs switched over to the new schedule yet? Curious to see how it's working out

A 3-11:30 shift would be useless at Sam's. What better way to piss off members by having aisle blocked off to pull merchandise down to stock.

Pretty terrible. Productivity for the night crew has gone down since they're always being stopped for one thing or another. If a truck comes and there's no more room on the dock, it takes 3 hours to unload and get everything up in the steel, wasting time for 2 people to spot as well instead of stocking or zoning.

Stock levels on the floor are at a minimum and everyone on the floor is constantly being called to help stock, making them behind on zoning. Night crew hates it because they no longer have a steady schedule, and interferes with their other jobs as they were working overnights for a reason. Also, with the split up shifts, no one will do the same thing every day. No one has a flow or structure. We have a few people who barely speak english, but working overnight worked out for them because they knew what they had to do every day and did a good job with it. Now they all look like deer in headlights when told to stock a different area or a member asks for help.

With the manager and lead, one covers one shift and one covers the other. They never see each other. Because it is split up now, there are 4 shifts a week (for their days off) where there will be no leader. This causes managers and floor leads to be pulled away from their areas to give direction to the stockers, in addition to having to come in super early or stay super late to open/close the building. They really need to let us have a second overnight lead.

Our club does. And so far it helped stock levels and sales increase.

We haven't been told anything about nightcrew coming to days but we have focused a lot more energy on stocking during the day. Not just for the fix up clean up list
