Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Sales Specialist Restructure nearing...

Lowe's met with vendors last week to review changes. Sales Specialists are being eliminated. Flooring, Cabinets and Appliances will be staffed with 2 full time associates with new titles. They will have to reapply for the position. No mention of commission or spiffs. No mention of commisdion allowance elimination, either. Millwork will most likely shift to the Pro desk or PSE if it needs installation. No word on the date, but if they're announcing the change to vendors, it will be sooner than later.

Just because you’re still seeing specialist positions posted doesn’t mean this isn’t going to happen.. I know of an inside garden specialist ( I can’t remember what official title was) , that was hired just 3 weeks before the position was eliminated. I believe ther we’re still posts for department manager positions when they were eliminated as well.

Take the time spent on thinking about this sh---hole Lowes, and writing posts, and put it twds resume bldg and getting the f--- out. End story.

If youre a good employee that contributes to Lowe's, the best thing you can do to fkk em is leave and it also benefits yourself. Win, win, winning.

I do believe our vendors know of the changes before we receive the courtesy. Had one quit her job 2 weeks before PSI elimination announced and another that asked, “thought that was going away?” -about 5 months before announced. Have another cabinet vendor in meetings all week. To discuss changes to the specialist? Quite possibly.

Many of the newer employees may not realize specialists that have been with the company for years still get allowances based on the commissions and spiffs they earned in the past.

It definitely makes sense with all of the other changes that Lowe’s would retitle specialists and eliminate the allowances they have been paying for years.

There is no I in Lowe’s. Just we.

Do I agree with it no. But I expect the change.

No way in hell would they announce it to vendors first.

I wouldn’t be surprised if vendors knew something before it was announced. One of our vendors knew about the PSI layoffs and was telling some of his stores beforehand. Still waiting to see if he gets to keep his job or not.

Spiffs and commission have not been in place for years so whoever is writing this must be making it up.

If this does happen I can only imagine ASM sales is next to go. Looks like Lowes has no idea what it wants to be. The continued cutting of jobs to save money is ruining the company. They cut so much that they cant catch up to increase sales. Now they are in the business of scaling down, not expanding. Lowes became unstable in 2017 and looks like it will continue to be for at least a couple of years.

wouldn't be wise to even discuss cutting the spiff allowance issued February 2012 don't even think about it because a class action suit would be filed in minutes make it easy on yourself

Indeed still list specialists positions as specialists! I’m sure they’ll screw us at some point. Please try to stick to facts. This sh=t show is bad enough!!!

For one allowances were given in Feb of 2012 not 2010. Second if you look at all Lowes job postings especially in the Florida test market you'll see a boat load of specialist job postings.

It is hard to grow a company and create wealth, but it is easy to transfer wealth away from workers. That is all niblick did and I fear Ellison is no more capable than the bean counter niblick was. Ellison are you looking to grow the company or just redistribute what is already here?

After looking at Indeed.com I do believe this post is correct with all sales specialist going away. They are called pro electric, plumbing etc. Cabinet is now called cabinet designers. I was like I was looking at job postings for a different company.

They have new job titles for jobs I did not even know we offered. So I guess these new roles will be coming soon..

Good luck everyone.......

I don't see them doing anything with Specialists this year but maybe next year. Why would they meet with vendors about Specialists? Makes no sense.

Correct. Lowe's converted commissions to a commission allowance in February 2010. Sales Specialists were given an "indefinite" allowance on our paychecks since then. Current enough for you, Anonymous? Perhaps you weren't here then.

This interesting to read whoever posted this. Lowe's did away with commission and spiffs several years ago... Not real up on the current status of that info....

I've sniffed this coming, for some time now. Business-wise sure it makes sense. Personally, it s---s! However, if I become a CSA again that means I get to pick my hours, with the new scheduling BS, right?
