New registers being installed

My club is installing new registers... They just had the old ones put in like 2 years ago. Seems like a waste. Any other clubs get new registers?

My club was one of the first 200 to get FFA. Honestly it’s not that bad but staffing is terrible at my club and that usually leaves us with one line most of the time. Two lines if we’re lucky. In theory yes we have 8 open lanes with sco but members don’t see it that way. They want every lane open so they don’t have to wait.

My club just got them within the past month. Its a tough transition especially since there was almost no communication from home office on how to handle certain things, like staffing and hiring of SCO hosts and stuff. We still dont have any SCO hosts

My club also has heavy EBT traffic, so considering you cant use EBT at self checkouts, I don't really see them being used as much as I had hoped.

All our registers do have member facing screens just like before, so to that commenter saying you dont have the screens, that is not right. Your store should contact your store planner who did your transition and have them put in.

We were one if the first clubs after the pilot to get them. Had them a year or so now. Honestly, first 3 months s--- to high heaven then you get use to it. Members eventually stop complaining because they get use to it. Dial in the process and things go quick. Looking back now, we use the same labor, maybe even a little more, and the process is much better and quicker.

We have the new registers. Members complain all the time. Telling us to open more registers. We only have six, two people per register, so usually we only have three or four open. COS's are always asking Photo or Electronics or the Desk to ring people up. It's a mess on busy days. We have more self check than regular registers. Plus Scan and Go. And our COS's work as runners. It's ridiculous.

Personally I love using Scan and Go, but lots of members won't for various reasons. Fear of putting their credit card on their phone, saying it cost jobs, not having a cell phone, saying they paid for a membership and expect to be waited on, etc.

The new register break down a lot and NCR is a joke.

Members don't like that they can't see the screens to see what is being rung up on some of the registers. There's no screen facing them. And how two people working at a register can miss so much is beyond me.

The door greeters send about one out of 10 back to the desk to either pay for something that didn't get run up or return monies where an item was accidently rung up twice. And bless the members that come back later and tell us that such and such didn't get run up, so they can pay for whatever it is. That happens a lot. Use to be the cashier's office would notice this stuff and let the manager know so steps could be taken to correct the holes in the system, but with no real cash office, lots of stuff slips by. Use to be returns were scrutinized by the cash office. It was a tight ship. And it seems as if no register is cashier accountable anymore. Everyone runs on every register. The powers-that-be should have left the cash offices alone. The company has to be losing money because of it. And then there's Claims. It's no longer run with an iron fist either. Those claim tickets at the desk, the ones you're suppose to send back when something is claimed out? It's a joke, the tickets get lost or are never made. I don't know how this store does inventory,, but it's gotta be a mess, because I know how tight it use to be and how lose it is now.

I've babbled on enough. I'm out.

It’s a joke they always breaking down. FFA means fast friendly accurate and they are not fast. As far as less cashiers you now need 2 per register, good luck with that. Totally agree seems like the company throws away money like nothing.

That’s why they continue to take away from the workers so they have more money to spend on stupid sh--, like registers that are useless and refurbished pieces of sh--.

It's to get rid of more cashier's eventually. Members can practically do everything on to them. All clubs will end up having them.
