Marvin and Joe! Read this.

This is my current store, and every store Ive worked in prior. Its poor managers, yet Marvin is hiring more managers, and less competent workers. Youre doing it all wrong Marv!

Lowe’s problem is they feel the economy is still in a recession and think they can pay low wages to talented workers.

Of course they can do that, but as the stores are seeing those workers will move on quickly as they find new better paying jobs, with work life balance.

There is no reason to apply to Lowe’s, if there are other businesses in town. My neighbors kid asked me how it was to work at Lowe’s. He’s 19, now he works at an animal hospital. I told him it pays more, gives you time to be with your friends, and if you like it take classes and become a veterinarian.

Lowe’s doesn’t reward hard workers anymore. Now managers just stick them in the hardest roles and make excuses to keep them there as long as possible.

If you want to throw freight, work for FedEx or UPS. Those are union jobs with good benefits and structured raises.

We do need me more managers and they will be coverage in the aisles so what’s the issue.

One of our pro guys told the store manager and the district manager "we don't need more managers, we need more vests in the aisles." Our building materials department typically only has one employee per day; a closer that cleans up. The pro guys take care of the department the rest of the time.

The article was right on target about many Lowe's managers. My service manager knows more about the cashiers on the front end than the employees he is supposed to supervise. He loves to chat up the ladies.

Really good managers are too few, and too far between.

I really think our economy has grown too big for the talent pool, been that way quite some time.
