Thread regarding Sears layoffs

It;s now about hour cuts, not layoffs

Hours have been cut. Again.

They can’t really get rid people at store level after all the screaming about preserving jobs without potentially having the judge order liquidation. They’ll axe the few remaining FT associates, but if you’re PT, your hours will get cut again, but you should keep your job.

Exactly what @XeyaK6T-1wnu said. It's all about the optics now. Layoffs look back, while barely anybody notices cuts in hours (which are getting so bad that people will be leaving on their own.)

Apparently it's still about Layoffs

They have a limited DIP amount of cash available to work with until the sale goes through so it has to last until the sale closes. Most retailers cut hours in January and February since sales are slowest after Christmas.

Good. There's so much waste paying associates to stand around and literally do nothing. Trim the fat.

Which of course is what they want. They'll want so many workers gone that it will cause the store to be shut down because then the sales will drop and Eddie will be justified in closing the stores.
