Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Demotion Day

Are there any other SSM’s Curious about their new positions? Our store manager has openly been calling them the demotions since the beginning (“You’re not managers anymore you have less responsibility you’re going from a higher position to a lower position it’s called a demotion for a reason”) He still will not tell any of us what our actual job responsibilities are, I do know every single one of us except for one is losing their keys, what will we be expected to do? We are told just to be quiet and wait until demotion day to find out.

Really??? At our store nothing has changed. Still closing the store with no salaried manager on the new schedules. ASM’s not closing hardly at all. Out of 3 ASM only one closing one night.

The so called demoted SSM's and newly hired supervisors will be department managers but instead of managing 1 department as before, they will be in charge of 2 to 3. The current service managers yes will have less responsibility but they will remain a level 9 with the same pay.

Wow, so regardless of the job duties, as long as the description of the position duties doesn't state management activities explicitly, it surely isn't a management position. We had our Tools/Hardware manager quit less than a week ago, good on him, Lowe's asks a whole lot more from someone making $2/hr more than a specialist. God speed to those of you in these tentative positions.
