Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Receiving changes

I work in a district where 5 stores receiving schedule were changed on the days of a truck. Normally the shift on the day of a truck would be 6a-3pm it's now going to be 12-9pm. Not a big deal since it's retail but they had us sit down with the affected associates and RTM's and over them severance packages if they didn't want to work the schedule. It seems weird too me that we would offer severance on this. If I had to guess, it's a way for them to possibly make the RTM position a lead position only if your RTM takes the package. We won't find out until the first week of Feb.

Stores are losing MTM’s if under 15 mil. RTM’s more valuable and not affected.

Why would you come in at 6am to work a truck, unless your truck arrives at 6am? Our receivers have worked 12p shifts for years and years, the trucks arrive between 11am and 1 pm. The only people who work 6am are the merchandisers, the day after a truck is processed and merchandise is floor ready for them.

Why pay an RTM, when you can pay an RTL. The same is happening on the sales side with Sales Managers versus supervisors and leads. The writing has been on the wall for awhile now.

Single store OAPMs with no detectives - only have RTLs ... they are fighting to get RTMs. I can’t imagine the company converting all the RTM positions to an RTL. That places more back onto the MTM and OAPM
