Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Be ready, be alert

For those of you who may go: take home personal stuff today, remove personal info of the computer and take your contact info. ALSO have some one to call and somewhere to go right when you get let go. Its a lonely feeling to walk out of the building. It helps to have someone to talk to right away or have a beer with.

I was laid off in the 2017 mass layoffs, I knew it was coming, made sure my desk was cleared off any personal items saved all personal documents and examples of my work on hard copies I started taking home weeks prior, had my nails done the day before with a subliminal message in Brazil painted on them. Wore one of my interviews suits and when I was called into the office for the fed, watched stoically as my id--t supervisor read the script from a sheet of paper, complimented the HR lady on her shoes shook both of their hands walked out of the department with my head held high and enjoyed texting while walking across the street on a red light. How I wished they had had a monitor out that day. Was a brilliant blue sky day and I drove home with the sun on my face at a higher speed than normal. I knew I was free of a toxic environment and free to find someone who’d appreciate my talents more. And I did. It will be ok, better to expect it than to think it’ll never be you.

Agreed! And don’t wait. Use this as motivation. Stick it to them by finding a job, and using that severance ( minus taxes) as a nice bonus and pay off any debt you can. It will make your next paycheck go further. And that my friend, feels so good.
