Gov. contracts are purchased from October 1 of one year to September 30 of the next. So IBM would be fully funded through any shutdown unless it fails to secure the next year's contract before Sept. 30th.

Govt shutdown may actually increase IBM a revenue. Someone has to do the work if govt employees are not doing it. IBM has no issue with charging the Govt interest for invoices not paid.

OP doesn’t understand how government contracting works. These folks, and IBM, will get paid once congress puts their big boy pants on and makes a compromise.
I would say that any upcoming layoffs at IBM have nothing to do with the Shutdown... they have been carefully planned by Bain to rightsize the company. They will occur on schedule, Shutdown or not.
