Thread regarding CVS layoffs

No one will pay mileage no matter how desperate.

Long story short...I am one of the best workers in my district, I am not exaggerating, 5 managers are constantly asking me to help them out with tasks: cosmetics, truck, planos, seasonal, etc. over the last 2 years I have been offered SMIT 3 times and I turned it down all 3 times. 2 of the stores are more than an hour away so I simply ask for mileage pay. Well both managers refuse to pay me mileage, at most it would be $20 round trip. Why are these managers sending emails out to the district and calling me explaining how desperate they are for me to come help them but they simply won’t pay mileage. The mileage policy is in store resources and states if asked to work in another store the employee is entitled to mileage pay. So I don’t work anywhere else except my home store...

Was the district go-to for 7 of my 9 years...in the end it wasn't worth the hassle. I'm now with another company and the amount of stress off my shoulders is unspeakable. There is a better way!

Come on, IT IS NOT YOUR MONEY! Is it your intention to make hourly team members as miserable as CVS makes management? Pay them what they have coming. No wonder CVS has all these stupid rules. We have stupid a-- managers.

Nothing changing. It’s just a dumb manager. Call advice and counsel and you’ll see how fast they all pay it.

I never offer mileage to people helping me out but never turn them down if they ask. I almost always get them a meal, usually out of pocket but I'll do a paid out if I'm not doing too well financially at that moment. I never have issues getting people to help out and I have very low turnover rate. You get what you put in as a manager I've learned.

EDIT: My district manger has asked me if I am willing to help other stores and I told him about this situation with everyone being so cheap and he told me he’ll get me the mileage.

I’m allowed all of the hours I want in my home store so I’m just continuing to work in there.

I don’t know about anyone else but if I have someone come help at our store I treat them with the most upmost respect. (Buy them lunch and a drink(paidout)) etc and I ALWAYS say thank you. I’ve worked in other stores and the managers don’t even say thank you. So I never return.

I NEVER have trouble finding coverage if we need help or just have a call out and need a shift covered. This is because I show respect to EVERYONE who helps us out.

Nothing has changed with paying mileage. I paid it to someone last week who covered a shift for me. I also did a paid out for their lunch. All approved by my DL.

I guess the store that keeps begging for help has a clueless manager...hence the constant need for others to help them as they don't know how to do the whole manager/cashier/stockperson role cvs has.

I do the same thing. I travel to help other stores, as of this past week I still got my mileage. I’m wondering if something is changing with the mileage or those stores just not following procedures?
