Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Meeting the Expectations Lowes has for You

Don’t try or even bother. Lowes wants you to do more in less time with less help and fewer tools. Then the next quarter, because you actually almost got it done, they will ask you to do more than before while cutting back on the help and tools you need. Every quarter. Every year. Every time. We are asked to do more with less.

It used to be if the work became too much for a part timer the position became full time. Now I can tell you the plan is to just add another part timer. Only when the customers are in the store, of course. We are never able to get preparations for customers done because of this. And why should we want to; for another part timer to get hired to then compete for the fewer hours made available?!

Everyone listen up. Just do the minimum you need to to not get fired. Seek out every customer you see and put off all other tasks. Talk about anything they want. Try for fifteen minutes per customer. If asked why something isn’t done just say you were doing customer service.

See what happens. It’s gonna be great!

I will be timing everything out so I'm just getting done in time. Once your pay is capped what's the point in doing any extra, you'll never see a dime for it. Better believe I'll do it all with a smlie on my face because as long as you're positive they won't even care if you get done. It's glorious

Had.a manager tell me “if I bring in another person, you’ll just stand around talking to each other.”

I relied it’s the same for management too.

So he wants to cite the law of diminishing returns?

I’ll give him a lesson in the 80/20 rule. I’ll be moving from the 20 to the 80. F u Robert.

It is true that the harder you work, the more they want. But also this is only expected from certain people. If you are one of the favorites or in the store manager circle of friends, you do not have to do anything and will be treated like you are God. Not sure how these people get into the circle of friends as they are all worthless and rude to everyone else. Maybe store managers are choosing people like themselves. If you are not in the "inner circle" they expect you to work your a-- off and still it is not good enough. They never compliment you and only talk to you when complaining about you or ordering you to do something. So these management types are being beefed up when what is needed is people to do work not s--- up or sit in offices. Someone needs to learn how it really is in these stores before making dumb strategic moves (or lack thereof).
