You can't identify a poster by IP address, not easily anyway. It would require a subpoena to your ISP.

Still not a good idea to be reading this from work though.

I think you're on to something, the IP address and login ID is an easy way to identify an employee. I was once greeted in the elevator by an HR Sr Dir as the "Anonymous One", call me paranoid, but I had recently filled out one of the companies anonymous surveys. I was fortunate enough to get the buy out instead of the walk of shame, either way I'm glad I left.

Yes most people do put money above everything. People on here want to blame department heads and ceo’s etc. Yes ofcs there is greed but everyone of these guys are puppets. They are puppets to the board. And the board is a puppet to the public shareholders. Who are the shareholders? They are everyone and any one person, entity, group etc that owns a fraction of a share or hundreds of thousands of shares. It is anyone that owns this stock outright in their portfolio or through drip by their employer or in their retirement fund. You can blame the greed on top level executives but the greed lies within every single person that wants a return on their investment. Anyone that wants a dividend check or reinvestment. How many of you are willing to take a hit on your retirements to keep the buddy in the cubicle next to you or the workstation next to you? Forego your dividend check or reinvestment so your buddy keeps his job? That is what I thought. This is american greed ....not really corporate greed. Public companies answer to....ding ding ding...the public. Which is every single one of us that owns even a fraction of a share. Private companies are a total different ballgame but these public companies are a direct result of shareholder greed. That includes ALL of us that own stock, mutual funds with UNP or whatever your portfolio looks like that includes this company.

Private website with thousands of forums. Site admins nuke posts that are in violation with one of their rules. Names and personal info, cyber-bullying (threats and personal insults) and too much derogatory speach is not allowed. They also nuke off topic posts like talking politics, and asking for votes is also not allowed (and that includes union vs. non-union voting, not just political ones).

Probably not a bright idea to use this site on a terminal computer. UP is probably tracking how much time is wasted on public websites. They might start tracking what is posted from inside the network.

The very mission of TheLayoff.com is predicated upon the anonymity of its users. Therefore, we at TheLayoff.com give utmost importance to the privacy of our visitors.

We offer a platform for public forum-like communication without requiring user registration. However, as is true of all web surfing and the Internet in general, by browsing our site visitors leave footprints in form of server log files and cookies. Even though we do not require registration and allow you to be an anonymous (i.e. nameless) poster, these footprints may be considered as personal information (although this may or may not be sufficient to identify you). This document is about the types of information we collect and lays down our stance in safeguarding this information.

We are all safe unless a judge orders IP info....there is nothing here that would warrant that, even some name calling snowflake.

Dude look at the privacy disclaimer on this site all of you make ill comments, bad comments about your executives calling them names etc your comments are logged with your IP. If the UP really wanted they can catch you they just have to ask the webmaster for a IP log. Don't be stupid guys.
