Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Eddie’s job-saving math simply doesn’t work

We all know that Eddie’s talk about saving 50000 jobs as his primary motive to take over Sears was just a very well directed PR move in these crucial times and nothing else. This article paints a good picture of how absurd these claims really were and that saying 50k jobs was never even an option. The author of this article did the math and came to a conclusion that, when non-store workers are counted out, Sears would have to employ 90 workers in every store on the level of a 450 store footprint. That is far from possible.

Of course the writer is forgetting about all those ghosts that Sweet Eddie hired to watch over the closed stores. Who else is going to haunt all those empty buildings? That's where the difference is! Sheesh, all you people forgetting about the recent ghosts he's hired. That's where 50,000 comes from!

I think much of the problem with this whole bankruptcy charade is that the claims Eddie makes are broadly made with underhanded benefits to stakeholders already in deep collusion with his takeover agenda. That would include the Sears "advisors" that accepted his bid, the judge who seems to only favor his fellow Yale alum's whims, and the countless other entities with direct or dotted line ties to ESL, Seritage, Transform, or Eddie himself.

This is a classic "Emperor's New Clothes" fairy tale where Eddie's not convincing people of his interests as much as the people are trying to convince Eddie of theirs. These folks are so well heeled and vested in their own self-interests that they play to his ego and will tell him anything to secure their place at the trough as the unencumbered private liquidation commences. The levels of corruption and conflicts of interest intertwined in this enterprise and subsequent bankruptcy will probably dwarf some of the biggest corporate schemes in history; but until that exposure comes, Eddie can parade around wearing little more than a grin as his minions continue shoring up his arrogance with false praise for his "plan" so long as it benefits them too.

its the 10,000 pound elephant in the room.

You know Eddie's lying, I know Eddie's lying and Eddie knows he's lying, but no one will admit there is anything there.
