Well, today I cracked. I went into my bosses office and said I would like to know when the HES Opco Advisor position is going to post so I can apply. I am from one of the countries it supports and I know a great many of the people I would support. He informs me that the job will not be posted but it will be another managed move and that person has already been selected.
I said so we are part of a function that virtually has no open jobs, impossible to get a promotion and senior leadership is terrible and never visible. He said if that makes me feel better by saying that then go right ahead. He said my attitude will guarantee that I don’t get a promotion.
I calmed down and said how can I be considered for the Sponsor or Opco jobs in the future. He said I can’t because they are reserved for future leaders and will always be managed moves.
I am working for the Trump Administration except it says Chevron HES.
I asked , well, is the reorganization going to make any changes in leadership. He said probably not. He said the reorg is about alignment and retraining our current leaders on being good leaders.
OMG….what?
Our leaders need to be retrained. How about just change them out? Look at the mess this function has become.
