Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

How reliable are February 19 rumors?

It's sad that I'm asking not because I'm worried it's happening, but because I'm hoping it really is nearly three weeks away so I can at least stop stressing for a short while.

So any chance somebody can confirm or deny those rumors? Or at least give us something more concrete than simply "sometime in February?"

Whomever says February is too soon is delusional. There is a plan in place for 2019 and you better get your resume ready.

Whenever a manager tells you you’re safe, it’s code for start looking for a job.

Management and HR despise you asking about layoffs. They are slaves just like you and they are told what to do.

If you think you’re getting laid off, you probably are. If you’re told “you’re safe”, start interviewing.

It’s musical chairs, they cut you now and rehire someone younger and cheaper.

Rumor in our office is Feb 13th. All staff already planned that day.

Makes sense then. The areas that have not been affected in January are having their turn in February. Incontrovertible. No issues here. I was referring to the same areas getting hit again.

Doubt it. They have to first deal with the aftermath of the layoffs that just happen and measure impact. Then load and pull the trigger again. The bigger the next layoff wave the more time will pass before it comes again. February seems too fast. Don't see why wait to then when it could have been done in January. So Feb makes no sense.

Was told I was safe and of year exceeds expectations let go on January 14th. Managers blindsided good luck to the survivors.
