Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Any idea how the layoffs will happen on Monday?

Heard couple of directors were escorted out today. Did any of you see anything? I was in Austin and have not noticed a single thing other than hearing from a co worker. So, if 4000 people are let go on Monday, how would they do it? Austin could see a cut between 150 to 200 people. Will all of them be escorted out by security? Or will their managers call them for 1:1 and will let them know. What type of packages will they receive - I'm hearing it would be full months salary until Feb 28, then 2 weeks of pay (for every year worked) and probably TeamGM for last year.

TeamGM payout this Feb is for 2018 performance and will be paid out to those fired. You will not be eligible for any prorated 2019 TeamGM performance money if you are fired now. That is my understanding.

in order to receive the TeamGM bonus you need to be on payroll the day it is paid out, so if you are let go this coming week you will not receive any bonus, it's in GM's paper work on page 120 of GM's benefits package for 2018. That is if GM decides to follow that paper work, they may also give it out to make them look good in the papers. All of the innovation locations will be hit hard as I have heard GMIT is overloaded and the target number for reduction was or is 30% of the approximate 8,500. The people that were escorted out were most likely ones who accepted a buy or submitted there resignation and were not part of the List. I have noticed when someone is let go their PPL finder is still in the system for a while, but if they quit their profile is removed right away. There have been rumors that Randy Mott is retiring, and if that is true maybe GM will eliminate all of IT's Ireland locations since GM no longer has operations in Europe.

It's nothing like that. Have been through a few larger waves of layoffs and they pick you off like a lion does cattle. A few here and a few there. You probably wouldn't even notice anything if you weren't aware of the situation. There will be a few rooms locked and a few people going in and out all day for several weeks. Also, you'll see lawyers and HR folks you've never seen before walking around your area.
