Laid Off Today 2/4 @MIC-WTC (IT)

Got called into a video conference room on 3rd South @7:30 am. I was mentally prepared for this, and luckily have a couple of job interviews in the process, so I am in as best a position as I can be. It was rather formal, although the HR person looked like they just witness the Grim Reaper themselves. They seemed rather confused why I was so at ease, but I suppose I am probably the minority who is looking forward to a new chapter, and I have no regrets having spent nearly a decade at GM. I wish those remaining the best and for my colleagues who do not, don't despair guys, we learnt a lot during this time and that will always stay with us.

P.S.: I get paid through the month of Feb, keep the CVO vehicle and get the standard 2 weeks for every FULL year of service, plus some lump sump GM Team payout, per the package they gave me. I still have not read through it yet, will take a couple of days to relax before I do.

Thanks for the info. I somehow knew in my heart it would be me, when one of my friends about the same age got walked out on Monday. I was still shocked, but felt something changing. Coworkers left behind said they have guilt and were all crying as I did my walk of shame out the door. They stripped me down and after I left my desk was cleaned as if I never existed.

How I was treated goes against anything that I have ever been taught about GM’s core values....... sad so sad!

Laid off from Georgia Innovation Center (lvl 8). was told the exact same things mentioned in this thread... they're not making us sign anything, but the severance pay will not take effect until they receive signed papers in the mail. they let us keep company phone and there are some details on number transfer etc. Havent had a chance to read through the packet yet.

The separation packet states you can purchase the CVO Vehicle at QRD3 price regardless of miles.

Been mentally preparing for this for months. If I am among the chosen just going to shake everyone's hand and tell them I hope all their firings go really well!

I call BS on CVO! I hate the dispelling of info sitting a time like this. There are Metro Cars outside VEC and 2 level 8's walked out in last hour turned over keys.

The HR person hinted this would go on through the week, since no way they can logistically process estimated 4000+ in one day. The HR person already looked like her dog died, so hope they can keep it together through this!

Good luck, but I would be hesitant to believe that the hype about there being any good jobs out there.

Do you have the option to buy cvo vehicle at qrd3 price?

Do they give100% of team GM payout

How about health insurance, do you keep it for some period of time, does it cost extra?

Everybody I know that's been laid off in last two months has not found new work in Detroit area.
