Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

LNS

Since Lowe's is Home Depot, when are plants moving to pay by scan and getting rid of the LNS position?

As soon as they get the systems that will do it. Genesis cannot.

As I live nursery specialist not only you have to do your duties along with loading, filling the back 6, maintaining your crew, mentoring water help, helping out with code 3’s which is a back up at registers, giving “Breaks” and “Lunches” for cashiers, having to do a code yellow and making room for a department that needs help recovering a mess. AKA Lumber!!!!! What the hell? Back in the days I was top regional sales was on going for months! I told my Store manager who thanked me for my sales and efforts... “ The reason why I’m top specialist in the region is because we lack cashiers.” To my surprise he laughed and thanked me for being top specialist. He didn’t consume anything I said.

I need to correct my post. Not Milan, Tn, I get my small towns confused... I am sure most people try the best they can at their job.

I am plant vendor in Milan, Tn, last season, will be there again. Since I was in the military I see how things should be run. The crew out in garden is well, inefficient. If Lowes would hire people who have structure and work ethic if would be a thriving company. Well, I just grin and keep on focusing on my work.

I don't think there's enough nurseries that will want to go pbs once they see the losses other nurseries have experienced.

if you think that landscapers/contractors are buying mass quantities of nursery stock on a regular basis from lowes that it requires a pro, you are wrong. bpnnie plants aren't taken care of now because lowes doesn't own them. lack of store maintenance/assistance with vendor pbs stock will be the norm. why would lowes care about something they don't own. cant get waterers to do their job now.

The LNS position will actually be evolving into more of a Nursery Pro position. Each of the live goods suppliers are being evaluated for their validity in a pay by scan program similar to Bonnie Plants. The end result will be a combination of pay by scan and retail/price reduction/clearance.

HD (store) does provide plant care assistance to vendors (culling, wand watering to supplement sprinklers, assisting customers, etc.) so we probably will as well. (BTW, they have an excellent YouTube video on training their GC associates).

LOWE'S is a sinking ship where we ALL need to jump before we drown!

I heard its next year because Lowes already paid for this years plants. At HD, the vendors ship in the plants. The vendor puts the stock out. The vendor signs and prices all stock. The vendor waters. The vendor sets up and disassembles tables/displays. The vendor culls and disposes plants. There is no need for a LNS. The only employees you see in the garden center are cashiers and an occasional loader. So don't expect the LNS to be around.
