Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

GM management should fall on their swords

I don't work for GM, but I have experienced layoffs in other companies. Each time I have to ask how did the company get to this point where they were forced to layoff employees? Who was minding the store, isn't it senior management's job to manage the business, and next to a company failing what is the biggest evidence of management failure than to have to let people go.

If a company is caught by surprise, or is so foolish as to over hire, or fail to be able to accommodate employees by moving them around, than senior management needs to go.

Lol, you think this is some honorable Japanese company? This is American capitalism. You got your cultures wrong.

I don’t think it was an accident at all. I think it has been planned since they over hired a few years back. It’s a mean, heartless way to clean house and try to change the culture.
