Request to get laid off

Does anyone know if there is a way to request to get laid off? I do not want to ask a manager about this.

Maybe just stop going to work? See what they do.

If you wanted to go, you should have left earlier. You could have saved someone else the pain of being laid off. No you wouldn't have gotten a severance, but you had months that you could have searched for a job while working.

Talk to the Hrbp and tell them you would raise your hand. Not to your Mgr.

If you’re not eligible for vsp and plan on leaving. Getting laid off is a way better deal than just quitting you get the teamgm and severance pay. It’s way better than just outright quitting and finding a new job

I asked the same with my manager and was told that I am not "eligible" for the VSP.

They won't do it. I spoke with my Director, Manager, and HRBP and they brushed it off. Watch what you wish for as the job market isn't as good as they say. I know it is tough, but try to hang in there but keep looking for external opps that you actual might want.

I imagine to spare someone else who may need /want the job more than they do.

I wish that were a possibility, but it appears the performing employees get to suffer with no compensation.

Why? What would be the rationale?

If you were eligible for the VSP, you should have taken it. If not, your severance would not be that great anyway. Why not just look for a new job?
