Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Cruel ways to save money

From what we're gathering it seems both low performers and high performers are being laid off. Many of them also seem to be a few months or days away from being vested. Pretty cruel way to save money and stick it to the individual worker.

@lmz - you keep your 401k but lose the GM contributions.

Yeah the vesting part really chaps my a--. They lay these new college hires off and they were you'd they had to stay with the company for 3 years. But then they get laid off involuntarily and lose everything. These kids are starting their 401k at such a prime age... And GM is just stripping it from them.

It's absurdity.
