Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

*New Attendance Policy*

New attendance policy has moved everything over to a point system for Sam’s Club. Go onto the wire and search for the new policy and make sure you read it and get familiar with it since our managers haven’t told us.

My wife who has health issues (and the store well knows about it) was just fired because she had 5.5 points. Every single time she called in for being sick, she had a Dr. excuse EVERY_TIME! What others are saying here about people calling in and being no call no show and never getting fired or reprimanded is 100% true! My wife would tell me about how so and so has missed 5 days, 7 days, 10 DAYS! and is still working there. And these are young people... And sure they could have health issues just like my wife does, but what gives? How are THEY still working there, Dr excuse or not and my wife is not? SAMS CLUB IS A FU----G JOKE AND I HOPE THEY GO BANKRUPT.

I read somewhere that Walmart is thinking of give bonuses for good attendance because people are abusing protected pto. Sam’s club should do that. So tired of being screwed by my co worker’s because work the day before was a headache.. So tired of picking up the slack with no compensation. For once give your good employees something and maybe they won’t leave and stick you with all the bad employees . Protected pto has been horrible for us good workers

I work at store 6212 and the associate attendance is out of control. I am almost 60 yr.old and have been pushing carts and flatbeds because the full time associate is taking advantage of the Covid-19. He should not be full time and get benefits because he only shows up two days. I pulls me from gas station and pulls others from their department. He should have been fired long ago

I was fired after 27 years in Knoxville, Tennessee Sam's Club. It's not about the policy about when they change the damn schedule and don't let you know about it and when you are given points when you clock in on time, so if it don't happen to you, don't talk about it.

I just got fired today because I exceeded my points. First of all.. I used pto to knock those points off and they were gone. A few days later they were back on so I talked to a manager and he told me I was fine and to not worry about it yet I got fired. Fired after the holiday season, when everything dies down and they just don’t need as many people anymore. Anyway, there are several employees with 7+ occurrences that still have their job. Sams club definitely shows favoritism and honestly it towards the Straight white people with no disabilities. The managers and cos are complete mo–ns, a lot of my coworkers were mo–ns not being able to complete simple task, but oh they still have their job. The front end people bullied a new girl, cos are so rude and impatient on the walkers and it was nothing but drama working there, I felt like I was back in high school. I’m glad they fired me to be honest, I needed a better job.

One of my coworker’s was graduating college and put in a request cause obviously they couldn’t be at work, and they denied it. They denied GRADUATION because it was a key event date. The manager knew it was graduation and said no cause a key event date was apparently so much more important than graduating college. Coworker had to use own PTO for that. What total BS.

I work at Sams Club Alpharetta the attendance policy is a total joke . There’s at least 10 employees at the moment with about 20 absences no call no show those same people show up for hours late for a shift no excuse just Crouzon and then make up their hours when it’s convenient for them if they want to . Definitely favoritism by the managers depends on what nationality you are . Corrupt company with terrible morals . Stealing from the company is just swept under the rug . mAnagement is a joke . It’s more like what MAnagement ?

Worked at Sam's 18yrs...always seemed that particular managers could overuse system for fav associates. Seemed attendance policies never worked.

Ridiculous policy. I'm not even sure how it's legal. If you are sick for 5 days with a dr's note it is not excused. You are terminated. I see a class action law suit in their future.

The new call in system is a joke I was in the hospital for 3 days had a doctor's excuse and when I returned back to work I got 3 points so now I only have two points so if I get sick in the next 6 months I will be automatically terminated

I work at Sams club in Beavercreek and the new system just got introduced to us a couple weeks ago. Yes , I understand how people are saying just don’t call off . Okay , I put in a couple request 2 months out and they got denied and I’ve asked about 7 or 8 of my cashiers to cover it . No one would so I rather call off and lose a point then say nothing and get 3 points . The new system could help or hurt you . I think it hurts.

I put in a vacation request 2 1/2 months before I was going on vacation. Hearing nothing I purchased tickets etal. The week of I sent a reminder of vacation, only then did they deny it! This turned out to be the only day I 'missed' in a year, my peer, hired the same day as I misses an average of 3 days a month. sad but true

An id--tic system set up by id--ts. Sams cannot get good people to work for them now and new people won't put up with this policy when there are so many better jobs out there. Sams is not a good place to work. there is an adversarial attitude between management and employee brought about not enough help to do the job well.

It seems to be a Sams policy to let one section of the store without service daily, thus doing away with one or two employees to service members. This job falls on the associates from another section of the store. It wears pretty thin on busy days. But,,, done company wide it saves Sams a lot of money. Poor service seems to be the new standard at Sams. I cannot believe why anybody would pay to shop at Sams. Several days a week there are no shopping carts available, at least on section of the store left with no associate to help members. Sams new motto ,,,,, Look out Sears, here we come !

Anybody that agrees with this new policy is an id--t and Ill explain why. The policy as it stands has the potential to weed out 90% of their employees within the first 6 months, both good and bad employees alike. Employees that suffer from autism and other severe disabilities will be held to the same standard, I can just see the lawsuits piling up.

I agree that call offs and people coming late, myself included, has sky rocketed and is totally out of control. The easiest way to rectify this problem is, sc-ap the PTO program and get rid of the current tracking system that is in place.

Before technology made the PTO tracking system possible, employees had call work and talk to a Supervisor/Team lead, then you had to talk to a coach. If you were going to be late you also had to call work. If you were late, they would extend your shift. If you were late an hour, then they would extend your shift an hour. If it became at pattern, then they would talk to you about your attendance. The Supervisors also had other creative ways of discouraging people from calling off. When a cashier called off, they transferred the call to the service desk and she had to explain to her mom why she was calling off. Guess what, she never called off again. If your late or call off, you just use the app. When the time comes, you get coached, no need for actually conversations now because your tracked in the system. On top of that employees were also rewarded with 60 hours of Protected PTO time, so you could call off anytime, no questions asked.

If you have kids, you might want to find another job now. If your kid just so happens to get sick or you have to leave work early during an event or holiday, well its going to cost you double. If they want to cut hours when it's slow, its about to get a lot more difficult for Supervisors and coaches. People that work at 6:45 could also be penalized if the door is locked and one of the coaches doesn't come in time to unlock the door. What happens during severe weather when 60-75 of employees call off, do they also get penalized.

Points:

1 minute late = .05

Call off = 1 point

Punch in 10 min. early = .05

Punch out 10 min. early = .05

Punch out extra early 50% of shift = 1

Call of during event or holiday = 2

No call No show = 3

It only takes 5 points and your fired and it takes 6 months before they drop off. From what I can tell and over hearing a few of the coaches talking about it, they don't even agree with this new policy, but of course their hands are tied.

Don't be late to work is a simple concept.

by

Post ID: @zfi+XvERV9h

It’s not that simple. Late 10 minutes or more is .5 points. Leave 10 minutes or earlier of your shift end time is .5 points. Call off on day of an event is 2 points. Call off random day is 1 point. No call no show is 3 points (and subject to be terminated). 5 points within a rollling 6 month period is subject to be terminated.

You have to use it in order for it to work. The people in our club call or Txt there favorite Mgr for call offs and it never gets recorded.
