I had 40 years of service to GM. Was let go today, I assume due to my salary.
I am considered a GM payed employee until 4/9 due to the WARN Act.
I will also start getting my 6 months severance on March 1.
There is an overlap due to the WARN Act.
Hope that helps my colleagues who were also axed today.
@XvcwFgi-vio Can't figure that out myself, and the HR executioner had no idea either...go figure!
I would have completed 3 years in a few months. I get a letter that I am eligible for pay and benefits till April 9th, but other material in the package indicates I get pay and benefits till end of February, and the severance starts March 1st. very confusing!
I was let go this morning. I hold no ill will. However, they should have handled this much much better.
I worked for GM for over 35 years and all I got was this blue "GM Cares" tote bag.
I heard the VDOC was supposed to have cuts yesterday, but because of the weather they postponed it to today.

Yup, I saw one of them walking around. He even has his hand cart to help you move. How thoughtful.
They do seem to be respectful. I said hi to him in passing... It caught him off guard. :-)
