My BU’s quarterly earnings was revised recently (increased), now management folks project that we may miss the target for next two quarters. I don’t understand the logic, why revise to target beyond expectations and later suggest that situation is tough due to recession (is it even real? Are VPs that gullible to fall for click bait headlines?). Maybe, it is a sublime message to make employees not ask for pay raises?

Your BU is being asked to make up for gaps by other BU's in your segment. Simple. Your SVP committed to some numbers they shouldn't have.
Now all the VP's in their group are being punished for one or more other VP's failings, because obviously the SVP can't be at fault and go admit to missed targets.
Not sure if Poster was from CSPG, but we have similar stories. Funny thing new VP BJ hasn’t shipped any solid hardware product yet. I’m eagerly awaiting the release of AMD into the wild.
