Jim Vena is going to be taken the Heritage Fleet train out next week. The rumor going around is this will be last train that comes out of the shops.. I don’t know how many people are employed over there, but I am hoping the best for the whole shop. Keep Building America!!!

With all the cold slaying, chopping and cutting, it should be as clear as the Crystal Palace. UP wants to be a cash grinder only seeking the share holders approval upon high returns.
Sometimes companies need to have pride and heritage and be more than just a cash grinder. Life can be pretty basic. There’s a lot to be said for having some special things of historical value and nostalgia. If they sc-apped the steam program and heritage fleet, we may as well be some boring cardboard box making company with no character or sense of being special.
Sc-ap the whole steam and heritage fleet. If the UP is serious about PSR than that is what needs to happen. As a 30 year employee it makes more sense to me to get rid of useless assets than useful employees. For those of you who think the UP should hold on to its history I would have agreed with you if the UP was running a railroad, but that ship has sailed. We have become a business and the bottom line is the most important thing at this point and time. Its very sad to see what the UP has become but its just the way it is.
Principles of PSR do not allow for any extravagance, with the exceptions of over priced executives and fat bonuses. If they keep them, they are hypocrites.
I hope they all get sc-aped. Steam engines those stupid cars the whole bit.
Do we really need the steam program?? We known the exec's ain't getting rid of their party trains
Nah. With 4014 restoration in full swing, I highly doubt it’s true. But restoration of 3985 could be put on hold.
What the heck the union Pacific is going out of business you have stock sell sell sell.. get out while you can
Now why would you even think that. I love my trains! I know that these beautiful cars have been and will stay with UP as these are the Pride of the railroad. I wanted to see these cars first hand and look forward to traveling on them for many more years when I’m CEO. So the rumors stop here!! Good luck to you my friend.....
