Cn employees are on the way... right.... quite the opposite really. So many people here in Chicago unit have been scooped up we've taken to calling cn Homewood Proviso south. Cn wants UP talent desperately. Hard workers that dont need training it's a win for them.

I’m hearing rumors that the management side will start again this coming week.

I heard from a very reliable source outside of the UP that there may be major changes when CMO J.Estes retires. The CSX has been for awhile contracting consultants, most are former and retired CN mechanical mangers and directors. With our new COO having such close ties to the CN it wouldn't be a stretch to think that more CN talent is on the way over to the UP. The Mechanical and Engineering department at the UP are very top heavy and for those who knows how the CN runs there Mechanical and Engineering departments major departmental changes our probably on the way.

I think the layoffs will be announced right after earnings are announced.... so next earnings call i think is late April so early may will be the next round.... just a complete guess on my part though

Probably location dependent. If the hatchet men (givens, vena, Smith) are visiting your shop soon be prepared for layoffs after the leave. At least that seems to be the trend so far.

I think it just depends on your location. For instance, if you work in Hinkle and are in the mechanical or car department you would be doing yourself a favor being proactive and looking for a backup plan. With the hump shutting down and no inbound terminating trains there IS GOING TO BE MORE WORKFORCE REDUCTIONS!!!! Since Union Pacific is becoming more efficient and not wasting money on unneeded locomotives, car dwell time, switching, humping etc there is going to be major workforce reductions. There is nothing the unions can do about it because the work is going away. Good luck everyone...it was a nice ride while it lasted.
