Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

My last day...

Today was my last day at my club. Started as a cashier two years ago then into bookkeeping then went to COS hoping to get full-time in every one of those positions.. .NEVER HAPPENED, SO I MADE THE DECISION TO LEAVE WHEN MY HEALTH GOT BAD DUE TO THE STRESS BEING A COS. In 2 years I barely ever called out, stayed late, did fruit trays at Christmas time to help out and the thank's I got was nothing. When I first got hired by Sam's everybody kept saying what a wonderful place to work they're so good to their people if I would have known this was the direction the company was going in I would have never ever gotten hired there I would have looked other places. Yesterday a Costco opened up about five miles from our store are store was dead... Costco you couldn't find a parking space in and all I hear from Members is I think it's time I give up Sams now especially with the 8 a.m. opening for plus members no more 7 a.m. they can only get click and pull orders most of the early-morning members say they are going to leave. Do I regret leaving no my health is more important than Sam's Club because the powered that be do not care about me, you or anybody else. So are front end has lost 2 COS's IN 3weeks going from 5 to 2FT and 1PT or and the new team leader who doesn't even know the job yet and I'm not sure if she likes it or wants to do the job now that she realizes how hectic it is up there. So I bid a fond adieu to Sam's Club my health is worth more than getting your plus memberships!!!

To the original poster, I work for Wally World 25 years and it’s no different over here if it means anything. Everyone gets treated like dirt here to. You did the right thing as I tell everyone your health and family is #1. Trust me Sams already forgot you, were only SS# to them. I must agree with the one poster that said it’s just a job and a machine driven by numbers. It will always be that way. I feel Sams has only a limited numbers of years of operation anyway and they will close their doors. Home office turns once good managers into ?,!#$&! I’ve seen good managers and people get so sick over stress they are hospitalized. Obviously they waited to long but now are happy with their new jobs. God Bless you and all your future indevours and never look back. You will out live Sams club.😊

Guess your boss is an a--. File a lawsuit against him, not Sam's Club. The lawsuit will carry more weight because Sam's Club won't hire him a lawyer since it isn't about the Club. I am a diabetic and take insulin. My manager and COS's make sure I get what I need, when I need it. And I went back to college, graduated in 2011. Didn't take out a loan, didn't go in debt, grants paid most everything. I paid for books. Now I substitute teach and work at Sam's Club. I'm 65. College was about me being able to do something good for me.

I am the original poster...Please do not tell me to shut up. I am 56yrs old , in retail my whole life except for 4years at at desk job . If you look at the post I have left due to the stress of the job (I have 1kidney and am insulin dependant diabetic). Sam's does not care about you face facts. I opened at least 3days a week....in at 6:45 am no one else till 11am. Manager could give 2 c-aps that I need to eat and take insulin and , only when I damn near went into diabetic shock and went to the ER did I open my eyes Sam's says it's all about family...it's not. Not one are you doing ok, how do you feel not from anyone. So yeah Sam's s---s as a company.

You know what college looks like to the younger generation? It looks like a place that puts you in debt for most of your life. When you get out, you still have to work your butt off to barley get by. You're still overly stressed, just at a different job. We were fed this illusion of college giving us a better and amazing life. Like we could be someone huge. Instead you're in debt, working all hours of the day and night, and leaving your kids in daycare to be raised by others. Then the kids grow up and hardly get to see their parents. The kids see then and are expected to believe this is the way to go? I am getting by just fine without a college education. Welcome to America...

These smart a-- people making rude comments is the reason most associates are unhappy in their positions. Lots of Sam's Club associates are so rude

The other poster telling you to shut up wasn't necessary. But seriously, All jobs are stressful. All jobs are hard. Some days, you want to pull your hair out. The sooner you learn this, the better off you'll be. Most retail is part time anymore. Cosco has the same problems, read the section their workers post here. Remember, It's just a job, you come in, you work, you go back to your real life. That's it. Don't get emotionally involved, don't lose your identity in work. No company, no matter what will ever care about you. It can't. It isn't alive, it's not a sentient being. It's a machine driven by profit. Want a better life, go to college and get one. Yeah, I know, that's hard too, but you're going to have to do something else besides retail. Else this will happen to you over and over again.
