Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Layoff Site

I know this is a lay-off site. But much more than that is communicated through here which is good for everyone involved.

But what layoffs are coming soon? It’s already February and no store level cuts which Beleive me is a good thing but scary because it makes us feel like it’s going to hit when we least expect it.

When are the cuts coming?!???!?

Will leads and /or ASMs be cut. Region and district were restructured during the usual time of year when will stores be???

@XyrzOZP-1ibh is gonna save the company with separate entrances for "elite" members to get their coupons for popcorn, pizza and frozen coke. That should fix the millions burned each month just to keep the lights on in these trash dump stores.

And I would assume these plans to "hire additional staff" are current employees reapplying for their same dead end jobs? Please don't answer that... we already know.

Amazing how NewSears goons (or whatever this current b--tardized incarnation of Sears is called) have to troll the layoff board in a frantic/panicked way of obscuring the obvious. Full Stop.

No layoffs are planned or foreseen. Full stop.

At HE we are actually making plans to HIRE additional staff nationwide.

Part of the integrated retail store side plan includes enhancements to the SYWR platform, including, but not limited too, a new tier “Elite Platinum” this is to reward our most loyal and consistent members, those who stuck with us when times were tough.

Those reaching “Elite Platinum” will receive additional discounts and the ability to share their status with “friends and family” with coupons etc on an extremely limited basis.

The introduction of “K-Basic” a Kmart based C store which will be located as a continuation of the store within a store concept. These will be placed in all the remaining full line Sears stores and will offer expanded C store items from milk and soda to hot and ready little Caesars pizza and a returnnof our once popular frozen coke and popcorn, deli items. Ideally “K-Basic” will have two entrances one to the street side one to the Sears FLS it’s carved out of.

Since these two roll outs are generally widely known about I don’t mind mentioning them here, however these are just two of a list of 20 projects designed to increase our foot traffic as well as boost existing same store sales.

The BK extinguished our once burning platform and has restored us to a solid financial footing from which to grow and prosper again. Stay tuned, many exciting things will be happening over the next 6 months!!!

I would just be prepared to see widespread restructuring of roles in the first few months as they bring in the new leadership hierarchy. This was not uncommon prior to bankruptcy. We saw Hoffman do it as a method to thin the workforce in underperforming business units - or even in strong units like home services. Roles were combined and some employees had to re-apply for their same jobs along with taking on additional responsibilities with the same or lower pay. This is one way the new leadership will control the optics and message internally by saying "we're not laying anyone off, we're just restructuring roles". Eddie's "transformation" was born from this. Those who don't qualify for the new roles (i.e. requiring specific degrees or experience) will be offered alternate roles that drastically reduces their pay or forces relocation without assistance. Those who don't take the offered roles will have to resign, thereby not creating layoffs.

Take control and look for another job. I know it's easy to say, but there are tons of retail jobs out there, and almost every one of them is SIGNIFICANTLY better then working for Eddie. Control the situation, don't let the situation control you.

Its anybody's guess at this point in time....Eddie is taking full ownership control of the company now.....His methods so far since 2007 has been cut and slash to reduce expenses which has not worked in returning the company to profitability.....so yet to be seen if he handles things any differently going forward.

Yes of course there will be cuts at some time in the future. But they will likely not be for a long time. There would be way too much negative press given the BK situation. So just relax and kick back for a while.
