Layoffs and the fear of them are now a constant state for the UP workers. We all need to be prepared because they will cut as much as they can to the level in which the company can operate functionally. This whole year has been labeled as a transitional year and we all know what that means. Think that we need to think ahead, try to get another job while still working and try to avoid being collateral damage to the company.

Psr will always fail. Heres why. Once the competitor offers the customer a better commitment and your customer designs thier operations around it, you can never win it back, especially at a premium.
Simple market forces.
Hunter will voice lance from the grave "No, do not bend"
Now, up has run thousands of experienced craftsman and management onto the street that can never come back. Hard thing to do in the current unemployment rate.
The railroad is almost in a win-win situation. PSR will either be great for the shareholders or it will be a disaster and no one knows for sure which it will be now. If its successful, then well good for you UP, you'll make billions with only 70% of your previous labor cost and a huge reduction in capital.
But... if PSR fails, you're going to have to hire people back and try to restore what you were doing before that came along. Of course the new employees will be coming in making much less than those who left in 2018-19, and will have less benefits. You'll have to earn back business, but companies will be happy to sign up again to ship their good providing they cost less than trucks.
