why does nepotism still surprise people? Cisco is not a performance based company
yes it was always there in some form, the "in crowd" got more opportunities to excel and more rewards, but since the death of reviews in 2014 and the new "people deal" it has become particularly bold, blatant, in your face and obvious.
managers/directors are doing what they want wrt to punishing people they dislike in reviews and daring them - "we are in charge, either stfu and s--- up the s*** or get lost"

met a R&S contact yesterday in BGL.
some people promised promos last year now told their names are not in list for 2019!
managers favouring people of their own state or former team, playing favourites openly
directors no longer care to even meet the seniors , let alone rank and file
directors positioning themselves for L1a visa to migrate to usa
the usual focus on bug counts and releases than any quality of work
managers happy that lots more sustaining work might be sent to BGL as respective products die out
what is in it for a engineer wanting to learn and grow I could not see. toxic politics , favouritism, never ending triages and war rooms..
not any wonder that even tier2 talent is hard to find for csco BGL these days - FANGM, nutanix, aruba, cohesity, rubrik, enterprise sw cos, jnpr, ola, uber, oyo, sumlogic, samsung, Lg , numerous well funded startups , some mid sized cos with good culture...anywhere but csco!
never felt happier than after getting out cisco, both with work culture and work.
long faces in my former team. one fellow had been promised a promo if he hung on and took abuse for close to 18 months now. nobody has been given anything.
well, I did my best to warn him (before I got LRed) that the manager was a bad guy...but he wouldnt listen.
Talent reviews are starting now... April/May effective date most likely.

I am talking about a raise in grade or salary bump, not bonus. I do not think it happened on 3/7 as many of my peers and myself were told by mgmt (in IT) that they have not heard about promos yet
Your manager has about 3 weeks to pass it on to you. You will get mid year unless you have performance issues.
