Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Attendance policy will start Saturday

Attendance policy will start Saturday, and since it will tie into how much your bonus will be, Sam’s Share is going to be quarterly also, just like Walmart. Haven’t seen the policy in writing yet, but it will probably involve the Protected PTO (PPTO) guidelines. Perfect attendance (No lates, leave earlies, or unapproved absences) SuperMax Bonus for that quarter. So if Sam’s Share for your club is $500 for FT associates, if you have perfect attendance, you would get a 125% bonus which would be $625. If you have a couple lates or leave early shifts or a unapproved absence (1 point) you would get a full share, so $500. If you would have say 2 points for attendance for the quarter, you would get say a 75% share, so $375. Then if you had over 2 points, you would get no bonus for the quarter.

Now the actual points have not been announced yet, but attendance will have a part of your Sam’s Share going forward.

You do not acquire points for working past your shift. The managers also can go in and approve it in the system if they have associates leave early. The system is no different now than it was before except the managers have to be more diligent on attendance exceptions and now you get points. After 5 total points accrued in a 6 month period you get let go. You dont get coached for attendance anymore either.

Sounds perfect for the closing shift! We all know that we get out right when the club closes--never have to stay late. I should lose points that will decrease my bonus because some straggler shopper comes in late or because the floor is blown up because I've been "running" up front.

Can someone who knows the real structure, comment ? I'm sure the total bonus is less than last year. There is no way they would keep it the same. Look at the PTO hours. They changed that structure to where you get less hours. Work more hours for 1 hour of PTO. They are taking more and more away.

So, this new program rolls out Saturday and no one seems to know what the rules are. If I am asked to stay late one day and help, that means I leave early another day early so I don't go over on hours. Do I get docked for this? My team lead asks me to come in early to help out and I do. Since I come in early, then I leave early. Do I get docked for this? Many of us will be losing points before we even hear what the "rules" are apparently. I'm glad there is a bonus for attendance, but it seems to be luck of the draw. You can be a hard working associate at a club with a lousy bonus and not get much or you can be an air breather that just shows up at a club with a good SAMSHARE and you are rewarded. I don't know the rules at all, but it is a safe bet that it is structured in such a way that less will be paid out in bonuses this year than last.

Can anyone tell me why someone off the street is making more money than someone that has been there 5 yrs? This was brought up today at our meeting and our CM could not give answer! How do you keep good people here that are trained in their department and pay them less money than the people off the street that they have to train???

Whats even funnier about this. My club had a terrible Sams Share. It was 100 bucks. Now think if we are tracking the same c-ap this year, whats the incentive for me to keep my perfect attendance on a quarterly basis. 37.50? Gee thanks. Let me add that to my 2% and I can go put this Bentley on layaway.

@sbb exactly!! So only IF you Max AND have perfect attendance you will get exactly what you were already going to get with the old max bonus.

Well now it’s about time the ones that show up faithfully get a aggea bonus. Now If they can get smart about these dam raises again. Since the announcement of 2% across to board even the best workers don’t give 100% can’t says I blame them. Sometimes you gotta fail to succeed even large companies.
