Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Layoffs/Replenishment

Just got news yesterday night from leaders. This is the north division. But should be the same in both.

-Merchandise from overseas vendors (most of apparel, tools, Appliance Kitchen built in) will be delayed until late April or Early May.

-Store restructuring will occur around the Last week of March until the 2nd week of May. There is no official communication on who will get cut. But it’s looking like the leads will get moved around and some eliminated.

For now business as usual they say.. for another 2 months you will still have the same position. Anything else is fake news.

Face it. They are going to be depending on minimum wage, part-time employees to be key carriers and act as managers so they don't actually have to pay managers. They replaced ASMs with hourly supervisors, who are required to do the same amount of work with less hours and less pay. They replaced some supervisors with lower paid leads that are required to do the same work with NO manager hours and even less pay.

Now, they will just run the stores with people willing to do the same job as an ASM with no benefits, part-time hours and minimum wage.

And there will be people willing to do it.

@fjx In our Sears store we have an SST Lead, a Footwear Lead, 4 Softlines Leads, and a Hardlines Sales Lead. We also have an SGM, a Softlines ASM, a Hardlines ASM, and an SST Supervisor. Way too many for the work they "don't" do. Talk about overkill........

I don't know what else they can cut man. I mean its getting to the point that no minimum to even continue to run the store. When our store had the SST we were behind truck and processes. I could just imagine how things would of been if my store was still opened even more damn cuts to keep running.

What leads are left to cut of move around? We only have one lead in our store, the store support lead, formerly known as the backroom lead. It's been that way in our store for close to eight years now and I'm sure most other stores only have a store support lead as the only lead position available, kind of like how ASMs are a thing of the past as they were eliminated and replaced with "zone supervisors".

Before things got really bad, we had one MCA lead each in hardlines and softlines, a HA sales lead, an HR lead and a HI lead. I don't think any of those positions exist anymore.

They meant that you will have your current position for at least the next two months before it gets eliminated in May.

There will be no more merchandise from overseas. There will only be final liquidation.

Huh? You just contradicted yourself. You said Store Restructuring will occur around the second week of March until the second week of May which is approximately 2 months. You say it's looking like the Leads will get moved around and some eliminated. Then you say in the next 2 months you will have the same position. Doesn't make sense. Talk about fake news.

Sounds about what I figured, that’s about how long it would take to get merchandise from overseas.
