Thread regarding Ford layoffs

On what scale were yesterday's layoffs?

I see people posting from various locations and hardly anyone spoke about how much employees were affected. Is there a chance that we can determine what locations have been hit the most and how many people were laid of at those locations?

In Marketing, majority of those affected were 30+ year employees, with a few 20+ years at/near 55+.

Says to me that the target is retirement eligible people (high $$). Not seeing any low seniority employees being targeted....YET.

In the past, agency employees were let go in droves before direct employees. Has this behavior been noticed this time around? Do the direct employees being let go have any similarities, such as having a pension and being within a few years of where the pension really starts to accrue?

Cascading reductions are happening across numerous departments, most appear to be the smaller more manageable areas with less total employees. Groups impacted so far include Ford Credit, Corporate Staffs, M&S, FCSD, Ford Land, MP&L. Multiple reports that many PD and Mfg LL4s survived and may just get reassigned. Since there appears to be a $mils target to achieve, expectations are now that top structure is nice to reduce, but they are cutting down through LL6s a lot more than was previously led to believe since they have to get the savings somewhere. Heard GSRs do not count toward the targeted savings. Heard HR is working overtime to manage messaging. All hands meeting for PD and Purchasing scheduled for next week.

Not sure, but it looks like Ford is determined to fly under the radar with these layoffs after watching the brutal press GM received.
