Walmart deploying 50 scanning robots

These robots can scan an entire aisle in 90 seconds. Eliminates the needs for SSS scans, never-out scans, and buyer scans.

So wf can’t have people stalk or rotate product correctly. But a robot is going to accurately scan the aisle ? And all the fronting over holes that happens will throw it off as well. Idk what store you are in where the TM won’t be the downfall of the robot.Nothing tech wise works at WF it is pathetic. I doubt they will be able to integrate Irma or doc to effectively work with any outside system.

We're about 10 years behind with self checkout and are about 20 years behind other markets that have been using register-based auto-replenishment...so 2039 checks out.

Well probably won’t be seeing those in WF till about 2039 since tech wise WF is probably at about the mid 90s.

It recognizes the product packaging and reads the text on the package, then compares it to the data from the shelf barcode.

How does the robot know if the correct item is stocked on the shelf? The barcodes are not on the front of the product. Another thing is WF planograms are never correct every store is laid out differently. Not saying they won’t get rid of SSS but there would need to be a ton of work done to get the robot to do things correctly.

Now the supermarket chain "giant" is deploying 175 of these. The future of SSS is "marty."

No, the scan can't record something that small.

Honestly, I think Bezo is bored silly with WFM. I think there were plans to bring robots into WF and that's why y'all had to certify and stock to perfection so the robot could accurately inventory and order. Now he's decided he can get better results by opening his own chain of grocery stores and I bet y'all will be sold to Shoppers Value or Piggly Wiggly or some low quality corporation. You guys will make his stores look good. Not trying to be mean, but he isn't promoting WF and you don't even have the same benefits as Amazon employees, which looks like he's keeping you separate and compartmentalized from Amazon.

Not taking into account stocking items in wrong spot, poor tag maintenance, teams stocking items without tags. Customers moving things will be an issue as well and the fact that Walmart’s shelves look like a truck hit them 99% of the time.

Can they make the robots arrogant? If not, Whole Foods is safe. For now.
