Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Too bad for them that they can’t outsource the railroad

Of course I say that with sarcasm, but If that wasn’t physically impossible, I bet they would consider that option. To put it in more serious terms, they plan only to keep the workforce that’s physically connected to operating a railroad system (the bare minimum of that workforce). As for the rest of us, who don’t see an actual locomotive when we come to work, think we need to brace ourselves. We will all get layered of at the end, or end up doing our job for less money as a contractor. Hate to be the voice of doom, but that’s the way I see it.

Xob, you’re an id--t and don’t know what you’re talking about. Unions have set minimums, so foreign labor wouldn’t be cheaper. As far as HQ positions, foreign labor costs would be more expensive. It makes more sense to hire kids out of college for lower wages and remove the long term employees with bloated salaries from the good ole days.

They can't outsource the railroad, so they do the next best thing: they import as many foreigners as possible. Keeps the wages low and dilutes any nationalist tendencies that honest, hard-working, middle-class Americans have always had. Lance is always talking about the need for immigration and open borders. Now you know why.

That seems to be the way things are going. After plan 2020 is fully implemented there will just be minimal staffing in Accounting, Marketing and Sales, Supply, and HR / Labor Relations in the glass palace.
