Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

AIG is unable to grow, so, we need to get used to layoffs or just leave

That being said I understand how hard it is to just leave, but in a situation where there is no choice we need to find the strength to move on. The other choice is to stay and face an non-ending uncertainty that will follow us for the rest of our career, that is if we don't get cut in the process. Remember this, the older we are the more vulnerable we are.

Ageed to the below. People get laid off all the time, and they end up finding new work. Honestly, I feel like AIG has given me a paycheck at the expense or letting them hold my career back and stunt my growth.

So very true. Once you reach 55 and hopefully you will, you are reluctant to make any changes unless they drop in your lap. I would keep my eyes open for a better opportunity in a booming economy while working for AIG. It's nothing more than a job. They can only RIF you once. There is no stigma attached to it. Prospective employers are more interested in what you can do for them.
