Anybody else annoyed at Dell managers who get stuck on a buzz word of the day/week/month and then use it non-stop without (most likely) even knowing what it really means?
I'm so tired of being told we need to be more agile. It's always agile this, agile that... We already do the work of at least two people each - since they laid off a bunch from our team and never hired anybody to replace them. What else do you want from us? How do you get more engaged than that?
True, agile is at most companies now. Some just do it better than others. Having developers all sit at one table that is so cramped and noisy that they cannot move or think is not the way to do it. That's the cheapskate way of doing agile...and calling it the Innovation Lab does not make it any more superior to what others are doing in the company.
Agile is omnipresent nowadays if you don't like agile environment, chances are you are out of companies to go to. Agile translates into fewer resources and more output every company likes that.
In the name of agile/fragile always engineer's a-- is burnt. What the management do for agile in the org? It is the engineers who has to work a-- off to meet the dead line. Management came at 9am and left by 5pm agile or no agile. They will continue to do so at the cost of your health, family life. These are total b---s---. Key to success is remove the laggards from your org, it will become auto-agile. There are plenty in Dell including Mangers, Sr Managers, Directors.
Dell management are "trained" to be parrots. They get yearly or bi annual retreats to some hot countries, wine and dine and attend a class on buzzwords parroting. Then they go out doing their best on spreading the buzz.
Apply machine learning and do a bot to be more agile
Every mid to large company does this. Managers go off to some seminar and come back with the latest short term rage. Play the game, extract money, move on when it's right.
Being agile at Dell means copying someone else new ideas as quickly as possible, since Dell hasn't had an original idea in the last twenty years.
Agile is a two decade old buzzword at Dell. Where have you been?
