Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Can 5G really bring that much revenue to keep the good numbers?

If you look at the market you will see that most customers are perfectly satisfied with 4G and that they neither deen or want greater speeds and the possibilities that come with 5G. Of course, eventually everyone will convert, but how long will that possess take, and how long before carriers could depend on that profit. Especially the companies that put “ all their eggs in one basket” like VZ

It will take innovation for it to work. When LTE came out no one really knew about youtube and twitch, netflix was still getting going. 10 years ago it was hard to see what LTE would bring

We'll see

5g is still a couple year out and enterprise customers are opting for Internet and broadband. Comcast and spectrum are slowly taking our customers as well as att's customers. Our rates are not competitive at all on Internet or broadband and mgmt is choosing to ignore this real revenue threat.

5G is essentially another boon-doggle for the company. Expect 3 to 5 years before anything substantial and even then 5G will be limited to arenas, offices, major highways and line of sight opportunities. Will companies make money from 5G? Sure they will but 5G will not be the manna from the Gods that the wireless companies expect.

Rural areas with hills, mountains, trees in residential areas and you can figure it will be a hard sell. Especially as Verizon have already 'encouraged' their wireline customers to move to Comcast and others.

All the wireless companies will of course paint a rosier picture but most reasonable people, world wide, understand that 5G is in its infancy and taking baby steps.

5G home s---s compared to FTTP. Compared to cable, it’s a nominal upgrade. Nothing to brag about.

5G in the home will be groundbreaking, if and only if this removes LFG. This will allow more competitive competition between competitors, where customers are now ONLY able to purchase from ONE company.

The wireless market is saturated. It's all about diversification into other profit streams, and has been for awhile. That's why consumer wireless stream is being discarded like a submarine blowing its ballast tank.
