This is not the same Sam’s Club that Sam Walton started and loved! He loved his associates!! He knew that if he took care of his associates then they would take care of his customers! How hard of a concept is that!! They have gotten rid of the great managers who came up under Mr. Sam’s business model! Now they are weeding out all long term associates! I agree not all long term associates do a great job but I know that there are a lot who go above and beyond! I used to be proud of working for Sam’s Club now I’m counting down the days to get out of there! I am a long term associate who will miss my Sam’s Club family but never miss what this company has turned in to! Greed and power will be its downfall along with incompetent useless Managers! Good luck’!

Apparently you haven’t heard the Mr Sam stories that I have.
Make no mistake, he was about the bottom line. You can’t be a saint and get as rich as he did.
Yes, it's very unfortunate that the company is making an active, deliberate decision to eliminate all of the "office" jobs and for Wal-Mart, the greeter position. While the company purports otherwise, it seems to be an intentional means of eliminating people who either (a) make more money (most people in office positions have "earned" their way into the position and have higher wages) or (b) cost the company more money in insurance and benefits due to age/disability. While the company had invested heavily into app-based resources, it does not appear to consider that apps do not always function, and at the end of the day, seasoned workers are often the ones who can "hold together" the clubs as they understand not only the business, but the members and how to interact with other associates. I was fortunate to work with managers who made me feel valued. I remember being so proud to work for this company during Hurricane Katrina. This company responded not only with resources for the immediate victims of the storm, but allowed all affected associates to transfer to whatever store/club they wanted, regardless of whether a position was available, kept their rate of pay, and even gave them a stipend to help offset moving expenses. It saddens me that I have not been able to feel that level of pride company-wide (again, I was fortunate to work for a great club and I felt pride on that individual club level) since.
Well said. I have been with sams for 19 years and I can honestly say I am ashamed to admit to working there. It seems like they take more and more each year. The board of directors should all be voted out during the next election. Greed is going to kill this company. More for less is the new slogan.
Who cares if McDonald’s is hiring! Some people prepare for the future and don’t live from pay check to pay check! Get over yourself looser!
