2019 Layoffs Cancelled

The expected massive layoffs won't happen on STI week or this year for that matter. For reasons unknown, the company changed their tune at the 11th hour. Maybe the hard working AIG employees will appreciate some good news.

I retired 7 years ago from AIG. They were running the same program then.

I totally agree with post ID @Y5UIvId-1Roju. AIG is paying McKinsey a fortune to "re-structure" AIG and to save A LOT of money. They will absolutely be cutting several heads at the end of 2019 to meet those goals. I believe I will be one of the people let go. One of the worst companies I've ever worked for. Completely incompetent management, no cost of living increase each year and jobs constantly being shifted to India who are inept and arrogant! India has NUMEROUS National Holidays so you can never count on them to be available and your project then comes to a complete halt during their absence. The new C Level management team seems clueless !!

Oh no no no. RIF's have not been cancelled. Keep your eyes and ears open and keep checking this blog. They are ongoing. All departments, yes all departments will be hit. It's just a matter of time.

I totally agree with Post ID: @Y5UIvId-1Voqb. Who ever posted the original post doesn't have a clue as to what has and is taking place in this company. Sad what this company does. I think they should give every employee a cost of living raise, as only management really gets the benefits and large STi'S. As workers we should be given a cost of living at least.

What a mind job. AIG has laid off several thousand people this year. Whomever posted this is a liar or ignorant of what happens in this company.

What a joke. Remember AIG 2020? THEN AIG 100? Now we have AIG 200, brought to you by the friendly folks at McKinsey. We will be cutting cutting cutting.

McKinsey has been given free reign to restructure basically the entire company. Managers will be parroting their mantra, RTS. The only cut they can make to lower cost quickly is labor. They will continue to offshire tasks, because that always works well, right?

Many folks internally know this and are planning to be RiFFed. If you aren't updating your LinkedIn profile and resume, then you aren't paying attention. The reason our execs haven't said anything says a lot about their character and frankly, ability.

Heard interesting thing through Grapevine. Heard leadership shakeup in IT will continue, especially in GI. Footnote to March layoffs, not only in US. Japan got cut by a third or more. Inam sure it will all work out, though.

Layoffs haven't been canceled. That is absolutely fake news. They may have been postponed for a short amount of time, but more are coming

Even if it is true it is too late for IT.

The March cuts were already significant and will have impact.

Re; Fake News. If you don't see any layoffs this week, the truth can't be ignored.

This is definitely fake news. There are still more RIF's to come. Maybe they will prolong it a little until after STI is paid out. Funny also we have highest paid CEO and lowest paid staff that don't get raises.

There have been RIFs nationwide and in some other countries for months. Right up to this past week. Don’t know what OP is taking about

Fake news! I was riffed with a large number of employees across AIG. AIG RIFs few employees by department and by state periodically, so the numbers are small by state. This is so that AIG does not need to report the RIFs as required by law.

Well we'll soon find out and even if it is true and the poor workers get a temporary reprieve from worrying every minute if they're going to have a job tomorrow it still doesn't fix all the other morale Buster's like doing all the work from all the people that were laid off and the no raise thing that we're falling so behind in the market and who knows if we're even going to get raises going forward what about all that what about all the benefits they took away it's not a happy place to be not to mention the convoluted systems. you're expected to work faster harder not make mistakes and with all the people they laid off and all the system changes in the rollouts with bugs you can't get anything done in any real time

I doubt that this is true.Maybe they will slow down a little bit for a while. However, they aren't bringing in new business. With that said, maybe they are reevaluating the RIF's and the talent they let go. However, I believe there is more to come this year.

Even if the company was afraid of age discrimination lawsuits now which never seemed to bother them before how does that help all the older people they already laid off at 60 61 62 who now can't find work doesn't help them much it's like the thief who's sorry because he got caught not sorry because he committed the crime

True on the Glassdoor thing... earlier post says they are deleting negative stuff - so they are probably loaded us with BS. Generally if their plan doesn’t work they start layoffs again in August. THE CYCLE BEGINS again... exhausting!

well let's hope that the good news is true and Glassdoor seems to have been flooded with propaganda now from Brian I don't see a lot of negative comments on there and all these layoffs and fear of layoffs have been going on for 10 years so I don't know why things would slow down now but this is the stress of living with this all these years looking over your shoulder like you're on death row

Since when did the greedy Executives at AIG really ever care what was said on Glassdoor and now they'll just drag it out and spread it out so that it's not as noticeable the age discrimination will continue

We'll find out come March 22nd. The decision was made this past week. It came from the top.

Probably the pounding from social media Glassdoor and re evaluated their exposure to law suit for age discrimination- and people leaving. Their sneaky approach to layoffs doesn’t look good and the got some well deserved backlash on sites like this.

How do we know if this is really true the only thing I could think of is maybe theyre too lean. cuz they laid off everybody and their dog and maybe they're expecting a lot of walkouts after STI and then a lot of job offers were turned down because we're not offering enough money so maybe when you add that all up theres not enough drones to do any work

Post ID: @eum+Y5UIvId

I highly doubt this is true... maybe for this coming week...but definitely not for the year!!! I’ll believe it when they close the restructuring reserve...
