Our club is going through a remodel and the photo department was eliminated. Associates are now cashiers. No choice of any severance package. This is your new job. Take or leave it.

Be glad they have jobs
Photo departments are no longer making money for the clubs, and while most members that use our photo services are very loyal, eliminating this area will not hurt the clubs bottom line. More and more people learn how to upload their photos online and have them sent to them for a little bit more money than we offer. Remember when you would get dozens of Christmas cards with family photos on them? Hell, I don’t know hardly anyone’s home address any more, let alone print a hundred cards and sent them out.
Every department that has been “eliminated” lately has been offered a severance package. The overnight stocking change is not a job elimination, just different times to do same job. I do not believe it’s required of Sam’s to offer severance packages, maybe some states have laws governing this. Claims associates received a raise when the new Backroom position was introduced, since it was given a Level C pay grade, which is the same as the Receiving Team Lead and Invoice Clerks previous pay grade.
Photo customers are the worst sort of people. It's by far the worst job in the store cause of that. Let them go somewhere else and try to scam them out of free pictures. Good riddance. Can't wait for our next remodel.
Are you sure they didn't just decide to stay? When out photo department was eliminated the associate got a severene package.
Same way with overnight take a day position are leave without a severance. This is how it should have been all along: we are in need of people badly, but we’re paying people to leave ridiculous.
Do they keep the same pay?
Oh no! Where will I be able to buy film now?
Was wondering when that was finally going to be happen for years to be honest.
