Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Leadership

Warning rant ahead:

I love my job. It was a conscious decision because I never wanted to be sitting at a desk waiting for birthday cake (or any other carb hit to get my cubicle monkey serotonin recharged until woot woot Friday alcohol binging time). So my biggest disappointment with whole foods has been seeing the bs propaganda about leadership. Maybe in other regions it is different but in my region? Loads of status conscious, ego driven types who have never worked anywhere but a grocery store and take it out on TMs. Every store walk is the same: get ready, regional royalty is coming! Please. I do my best for the paying customer every day. Why do visits need to be announced? Come see us as we are and you will see the truth rather than coming to get your ego fed.

So, If you are ashamed of working in or for a grocery store? Go get a corporate gig. If you think you are better than a TM because you are a TL? Go work for Walmart where you can do nothing and make more money than those who actually work. If you think working regional makes you special? Guess what? You still work for a grocery store that had to be saved by Amazon because wfm was too complacent to spend money on systems, training or education. Be thankful you get to be a part of a group of people who tolerate your bs. There are over 80000 amazing people working at wfm and part of your responsibility as a so called leader is to help them remember why they chose the company over anything else.

I,love the leadership at the HLV store I’m the SW Region. It’s like it is the last store where it has the spirit WFM says we should have. So lucky to work at that store.

I think on some level, current leadership HAS to know they have a BS job. Sure, 20% or so are completely delusional and actually believe the hype, but that's in line with the general population anyway.

Most though, probably can't believe their incredible luck and are just milking it for all it's worth while it lasts, knowing full well it's coming to an end. ANYONE In that position has seen others in the same spot go down.

They are simply playing a game in the only way they've ever experienced; they don't KNOW any other way...and no way in hell would any dare to stray from the herd--not happening.

To worry about these people is a waste of time. Free yourself ; much better use of time, IMO.
