This company s—s. Managers lie to make cases to fire people. As a manager I was told the other managers would back me with any "story" I made up to fire the employee. There are no words to explain the evilness of this company. If you are thinking of working for this company, don't, it will be the worst mistake of your working career! I

56 and every quarter were were doing okay with growth in some regions. Out of the blue new Manager, PiP and gone 90 days later. My kids look at me with total disgust in their eyes after I was putting in 55 - 60 hour weeks and they can't understand why I don't have a job and we are selling our house.

52 with 10 years then RIF next quarter. This was done by a 33 year old manager that was clueless about the business and would glare at staff as if that was going to scare them then accuse staff on the phone of talking on both sides of their mouth. Unprofessional and unsuccessful as a Leader but PIPed older staff.

@ennc, if you are Aero, I think I know the guy. Real a$$ kisser and political animal. He's totally worthless. Unless you are desperate for earning a living, I hope you told the mo--n to f### off

as you know, severance is company policy/compensation. For anyone to tell you that you were "lucky" to get it, they are a clearly a real putz.

52 years old 22 years of service with mostly 2 block reviews. Put in the elbow 5 years ago by an all politics Director in a rotational position. Ended up working for the same guy again this year (now a Senior Director) which was fun because I was recently promoted and he had to deliver the final promotion to me. Two months later he put me on a RIF list and told me I was lucky to get severance. Immediately (within hours) asked to come back and continue doing my same job as a Consultant on another team.

So glad to hear that your PIP bar was set so low. Obviously your manager, and probably his as well, know how to game the system. Others haven't been so fortunate and have been given PIP criteria that no one could achieve.

67 y/o, 32 years service. Walked on water at mid-year, then got PIP'd and outer-elbowed for some exaggerated reason that happened prior to the mid-year review. The PIP "remedial action" bar was SO low it was obvious that it was just my turn in the bucket. I think Band 4-traditional pension people have targets on their backs.

I posted before as 3xey. Turned in my retirement notification today!

To 3ekz: definitely notice a trend! Doesn’t middle management realize that THEY will be in the same boat some day? My previous boss Jon was THE BEST BOSS that I’ve have in my 40 years of engineering experience, and he was let go in a previous RIF, directed from above

66 yrs old 42 years service was put on PIP for 90 days. Manager was not in favor of the PIP but HR insisted I be put on PIP came of PIP and was in a RIF 6 months later. I was told that the PIP really does not go away for 3 years after coming of the PIP.

57 years old; 23 years at Honeywell; always ranked block 1-2.

Shocked when put on PIP, the reasons were proven bogus, but my manager simply said. ‘It’s your turn’.

Made it through 3 more years, then got laid off.

Best thing to ever happen to me! Had a decent severance package; Landed a new job fairly quickly with a great company, matched my Honeywell salary plus gave a huge ($20k) bonus.

There are some good companies out there who don’t care about age; Honeywell is not one of them.

3ekz so very true on trend put one more down 54YO 35years in few days and not a PIP as of yet but just a verbal warning on something that wasn't said in a meeting but younger ones under 10years of service and under 30YO twisted it and ran to HR and not only one they have run to HR about stupid stuff. Also they not coming directly to person or their supervisor. Its like walking on eggshells now have to watch what you say or do. Even if stuff said outside work they running to HR??

57 YO, 30 years of service, very good reviews until my last mid year under a new boss that NEVER visited me or gave me ANY feedback that I was not doing a good job until dropping a bomb at my mid year. BARELY avoided a PIP. FULL STEAM AHEAD on retirement plans ever since. I feel extremely sorry for my coworkers when I finally do bail out, which I hope to do VERY soon!!

To 2rjd point. Same poster here as below 6 1YO 39 yrs in Aero. Also had many years of VG/Outstanding reviews. New very young mgr. comes in and puts me in the elbow after being in the position for maybe 6 months. At that point I called a previous manager who had an opening and he suggested I apply but HR told me I couldn't interview for another position until I was out of the elbow. That's when I immediately retired. My goal for many years was to be ready to retire by 60. I'm very thankful that when the time came to leave I was ready and able to.

I always got great reviews. Never was PIP'd. 39 years in aerospace, 21 years in quality and never made it to the top pay grade. I was always assigned to train newcomers to the department, most of whom were already (or soon to be) at the top pay grade. In early 2018 they were looking for twenty volunteers for a layoff. I signed up but was denied. Shortly after that I gave two weeks notice and retired at 65. I haven't looked back.

Got thrown in the elbow but not PIP'd at age 57 at the deepest, darkest time of the economic crash / downturn. Thought I was toast. Made it through to age 61, when they said I was in the five block but stole my band 4 bonus anyway. That was the last straw. I quit and called it a retirement. They manipulated me and got what they wanted. I was happy to leave this unethical and godforsaken outfit. I check these posts to see that I shouldn't take the bad treatment personally -- they do this to every old employee who isn't a manager or considered a 'star'. Had 29 years of service when I got out of Dodge.

Never was PIP'd before but came close one year. I deserved it that year...dad passed away, new job, head just wasn't right, new job was terrible and needed full attention.

Volunteered for layoff in 2018...never looked back. :-)

Like the feedback telling everyone to s--- it up. Mine was a switch in managment from persons not watching budgets and more about the technical work. I could have used that at the time to maintain a reality base. THANKS for the HONESTY.

-1hnw: no, what you're waiting on is HR to get the paperwork together to fire you. if you act like a child, you can't complain about being chastised.

62 years old with 37+ years. Criticized management , they claim I used wrong forum (yammer) and offended alot of people..... Hey, I spoke the truth. My leader put me in elbow and issued the PIP. Obviously I did not get the 2% raise. He signed me up for 10 classes on the Leaning center.. He did not give me a chance to see specifically the classes before he signed me up. I emailed him complaining about 3 of the classes (Diversity, Bullying, and Workplace harassment) I not want to take, and reminded him I did not sign the PIP yet. Waiting for his response.

61 YO 39 years of service all in Aero. Wasn't actually PIP'd but was put in the elbow and told if my performance didn't quickly improve, was told it was a lack of HOS participation I'd be PIP'd. within 3 months. I had to laugh and I retired within 30 days. So happy I decided to GTFOT.
