New Backroom associates responsibilities coming in June

Backroom will be unloading all DCs(which will be truck to floor), paper, water and milk. With night crew's new hours they will be responsible for only Produce and freezer trucks. Backroom will also have to stock and will have a split schedule due to block scheduling, 2 in the morning starting at 5am and 1 in the afternoon starting at 2pm. I wish all backroom associates luck as its impossible to get everything done within 8 hours.

Y7aCeeI-2oih Amen!! No one helps backroom in our club either. We have to go be a runner up front spot, drive a lift because everyone else is to add slow. They always say teamwork but it only happens outside of backroom.

@Y7aCeeI-2bnf would love to see your backroom. Sounds like you have an amazing team. I bet your club has set the standards for all others. Since you have been doing it for 20 yrs and does it perfectly ( any body can do it) then you would think all backroom assocs would of heard about you and your club .lol..

Cross train??? How to stock ? Help members ? Put stuff in steal ? Unload trucks. ...We already know how to do that. What else do we need to learn to be part of the merchandising/stocking crew?. Maybe you guys should learn to receive or maybe claims thats cross training. Most of us can help all areas but NO one can help us.

Not anyone can do backroom. Yes everyone comes off the street...duh...but its alot to learn and keep up with . Its not that people cant learn to do it but you do have to be able to multitask ,be very organized which alot of people are not and some what smart . Ive seen alot of assocites fail because of these reasons. If you have worked claims then you will know if you cant keep up then you can lose control FAST .

I've worked 20 out of 30 yrs in the backroom. Your club must not work well together or your mentality is not right for the job. That's the problem with alot of people when you get a job your head swells up thinking that your job is superior to ever one else. Anybody off the street can do the backroom, isn't that where you came from. All positions struggle to get the job done. It's just a matter of time before things begin to transition.

Go ask your Managers if they know how to do Claims. I bet they don't.

I have worked in every area in a club. All these people who say the backroom is easy have obviously never worked it.

It is maddening trying to get everything done you are supposed to. There is a lot more to claims than processing damages. Don't judge a position till you have actually worked in it.

I dont see them making the PT a full time position. They lost good knowledgeable assocites because they couldnt accept the pt . Its too soon to make another change in the backroom.

If TLs are doing their own claims and returns. Are they also calling/faxing for RAs and making sure they gets sent out ? Just wondering since its just not scanning them out of the system. Those who thinks the backroom is so easy or not rocket science have you actually done receiving or claims? Backroom associate probably would love to help other areas but just dont have the time . There is alot of responsibilities that they do have along with cleaning up after everyone . Everything has a due dates and if its not done you wont get in trouble they do. The standards for the backroom is the same with less associates. I say if you work in the backroom , get 100% on your operation audits , all rtvs processed , liquidation 100%, transfers 100%, online returns 100% , zero dollars in claims inventory , all trucks unloaded and received( none waiting) , help other area and get perfect visits then go right ahead talk sh** all you want ...

All of claims and all of receiving can not be done by only 3 people covering 7 days....to even come close those three would have to be exceptional fork drivers , make no mistakes, encounter no unloading problems and not be interrupted by other workers ..not to mention skip all breaks...

I hope they all have to rotate shifts (in fairness). I want to see these boyz squeezed (more) like the rest of the club.

I been hearing the same thing for the backroom associates. But to add onto what has been posted above, all backroom associates will have to be cross trained just like everyone else. The part time position is going away with the block scheduling so there will only be 3 full timers, so you will have the hours posted by op but the 2pm shift will have work Thursday through monday, while the 5am shift will remain with the monday through Friday. This probably depends on your store but seniority gets first pick at what shift they want. So just like the first post said good luck to all the backroom associates, you're going to need it

We have yet to e told as well. For one we all would love to know so we can get things in order for our family. It's crazy how much they don't care about us. Good luck guys. Btw our day crew backroom people will finally know what work is, instead of barking orders.

This will be fun to watch at my club. They revamped the backroom by December 7 so now there is only one good lift driver, and one good pallet jack operator. The 2 we have working nights have already said they're not staying because they can't work those hours with their kids. We will not have enough good, fast, long term drivers. Management is refusing to even discuss night shift going to days, let alone when and how. The night crew is all edgy. They have kids to work around too and would like to know whats going on and when so they can get a plan in place. Tell me how any of this is "Respect for the Individual" ??

There are several clubs that only have one associate and handle their job and help TL do audits. It's all in what you want to do and the right attitude. You can make it hard or easy.

: @Y7aCeeI-1seq Thank you. The backroom is no joke. Its alot of work and those who think they are biotches wouldnt last one day.

Claims is not rocket science everyone will take care of their own dept. Wal'mart already takes care of damages at the refund desk. It prints out a ticket what action to take. Makes since though if everyone handles their own dept instead of dropping merchandise off in the backroom this includes markdowns and hazmat. The problem is no one wants to work as a team and help stock the floor and throw away their own damages.

Little Biotches? Have u ever worked worked in their departments? If it's anything like our club its because they get dumped on by everyone and are still expected to keep up with their own responsibilities. I help them out whenever I can. They handle most of the problems in our club & I'm sure you don't know what all they have to do in their own area. They have good reason to be that way in my opinion. I've seen the way things run back there. It's not fair to them.

Claims will eventually be done by team leaders processing damages and doing their own returns.

Oh that’s going to s--- for them. Our back room associates are little biotches and refuse to do anything other than the minimum expected. 1 is a 20+ year associate and the other is 30 so they get away with it and it’s maddening.
